The robbers were said to have opened fire on sighting the policemen, an action that sent everyone scampering in different directions.

Confirming the incident, spokesperson of Lagos State Police Command, Patricia Amadin, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said: “The heavily-armed hoodlums, on sighting policemen, immediately engaged them in a fierce gun battle, killing a suspected motorcyclist in the process.
“Unfortunately, the miscreants escaped but not without varying degrees of gun-shot wounds.
“The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, wishes to use this medium to assure Lagosians of the Command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring safety of their lives and property, as well as making Lagos State a safe haven for both residents and businesses alike.
“The Command has intensified a manhunt for the fleeing culprits.”
