A police corporal, Mr. Ali Christopher, who was alleged to have accidentally killed two nursing mothers at a funeral in Fugar, headquarters of Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State last June, has been dismissed from the force.
It was gathered that his dismissal was sequel to the outcome of Edo State Police Command’s Orderly Room Trial, which found him culpable.
At the time of his dismissal, Corporal Ali Christopher with Force No. 444040, was attached to the Area Commander’s office, Auchi.
Edo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, Stephen Onwochei, who confirmed his dismissal, said: “That case has been thoroughly dealt with.
“Two police officers were arrested and at the end of investigations, one officer was found to be culpable.
“As I speak with you, he has been dismissed. Hopefully by next week, he shall appear in court.”
He advised police officers to be guided by Force Order 237, which spelt out the use of arms by officers.
He also appealed to members of the public to always keep a reasonable distance from any officer bearing arms.
