Arsenal Keeps Champions League Alive After Victory Over Bayern Munich

Olivier Giroud kept Arsenal's Champions League crusade alive as the France striker rebuffed an immoderate botch from Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to rouse a pivotal 2-0 win yesterday.

Giroud fell off the seat to open the scoring after Neuer made a hash of managing a free-kick with 13 minutes left at the Emirates Stadium and Mesut Ozil included the executioner second with basically the last kick.

In spite of being on the back foot for long stretches, Arsene Wenger's side appreciatively acknowledged Neuer's blessing after continuous Group F annihilations had abandoned them very nearly disposal.

The Gunners still have little edge for blunder with a trek to Munich next up, however their decided presentation has given them tremendously required any expectation of making the knockout stages for a sixteenth progressive year.

It was a particularly humorous turn after a howler from Arsenal goalkeeper David Ospina had assumed a noteworthy part in their misfortune against Olympiakos in their past European installation.

Wenger had made the shockingly open disclosure that his players thought little of Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiakos in the two thrashings that had placed them in such a hazardous position, however there was never any chance they would rehash that mix-up against the Bundesliga pioneers.

Alexis Sanchez drove Arsenal's first sharp strike as the Chilean surged forward before choosing Ozil for a low shot that Neuer dismissed.

Bayern's triumph at Werder Bremen on Saturday made them the first group ever to win their opening nine class diversions.

Furthermore, the brilliant assaulting play behind that record-breaking run was in plain view when Thomas Muller slipped a splendidly weighted go through to Thiago Alcantara, whose push was parried away by Petr Cech.

Bayern manager Pep Guardiola had guaranteed he anticipated that Arsenal would battle like creatures, yet Wenger's men were confined by the Germans' metronomic passing diversion for long stretches and Sanchez was lucky to escape with a handball as he obstructed a shot.

– Intricate examples –

With the Germans weaving complicated examples around midfield, Arsenal's fixation faltered when Jerome Boateng was given time and space for a long go to Douglas Costa.

Costa's snappy bluff took him past Hector Bellerin effortlessly and Bayern winger's effective shot from a tight edge constrained Cech to make a decent spare at his close post.

Bayern's clever development again lessened Arsenal to powerless spectators when Arturo Vidal completed another testing so as to stream move Cech with a plunging strike.

Mindful that risks would be at a premium against such first class resistance, Arsenal countered by assaulting with pace on the break, however when their chances came Theo Walcott scraped wide from a decent position and Sanchez blasted high into the stands.

Walcott had no motivation to blame himself late in the first half when his apparently objective bound short proximity header from Nacho Monreal's cross was splendidly ripped at away by Neuer.

It was a ridiculously decent spare and Arsenal's dissatisfaction just developed as Aaron Ramsey dragged the bounce back crosswise over objective.

Costa was a consistent danger and the Brazilian lashed only over from long-go not long after the interim.

Robert Lewandowski had scored 15 objectives in his last seven appearances for club and nation and Bayern's Polish forward about added to that count with a stinging drive that Cech pushed over.

Bayern continued squeezing and Lewandowski's shot was repulsed by a Laurent Koscielny piece, while Muller's calculated strike flashed simply wide.

However, after his prior heroics, Neuer completed the reprobate as he talented Arsenal the lead in the 77th moment.

Santi Cazorla drifted a high free-kick into the Bayern range and as Neuer came to gather behind Koscielny he permitted the ball to slip past him to Giroud, who headed against his hand and into the void net.

Shaken by that staggering mishap, Bayern succumbed again in stoppage-time when Bellerin got them on the break with a rankling run and cross to Ozil, whose first-time shot went too far notwithstanding Neuer's earnest attempt
