Contrary to the reports in some quarters that the All Progressives
Congress, APC has settled for Yahaya Bello as replacement for its late
candidate, Abubakar Audu in the Kogi State governorship election, the
party has refuted the claims, saying that it has not taken a position on
the issue yet.
Bello came second in the party’s first primary election that
eventually produced Audu as the former flag bearer of the party in the
November 21 election.
His name began to make the rounds following the announcement of fresh
primary election by the national chairman of the party, Chief John
Oyegun.
This was even as other interests which involved Audu’s first son, Mohammed and his running mate, Hon. James Faleke abound.
But speaking to Vanguard on Saturday on the issue, the Acting
National publicity secretary of APC, Comrade Timi Frank said that the
party was yet to decision on Audu’s replacement.
“We are still consulting on the issue. We would take a final stand on
the issue of Audu’s replacement on Monday and we are definitely going
to issue a statement on the issue”, he said.
