The Police in Federal Capital Territory have arrested two members of an
armed robbery gang, which killed six persons and snatched two vehicles
during an attack on Pyakasa, a suburb located along Airport Road, Abuja.
Two vehicles, a Toyota Venza and Mercedes ML, were recovered, while
the two robbers were arrested in different parts of the FCT an hour
later.
Also, five members of another gang from Osun State, which specialized in robbing passengers of their possessions, were arrested.
Similarly, residents of Dawaki suburb in the FCT were saved the orgy
of armed robberry attack last week when the police, acting on a tip-off,
swooped on a gang of robbers, arrested them and recovered three
double-barrelled guns, one pump action gun, 50 live cartridges and 41
pieces of empty shell cartridges, as they had mobilized and were about
to proceed on an operation.
Making the disclosures yesterday, FCT Police Commi-ssioner, Wilson
Inalegwu, noted that the robbers, who attacked Pyakasa at about 12p.m.
last Friday, shot and killed six persons because they thought they were
out to foil their criminal intent.
He said luck ran out on them when police arrived the scene, recovered
a Toyota Venza car and arrested the driver, while the other suspects
abandoned the Mercedes ML.
